Update

Yuck. I have square eyes. This software designed to make my hubby's life as a business owner easier is grief. But I have now created an inventory database complete with personalized sku numbers. I entered all the customers from 2009. I am currently entering 2009 expenses. Then I need to enter the assets. Then I can file the taxes for everyone. All by june 15. The deadline for small business owners and spouses. NO pressure. haha. And then I can enter all the 2010 info. I figure I'll be up to date by .... ummm... July 1?? Oh yeah, 17 days of school left. I better be done by then or I'll end up selling some kids. The little one is 'done with school NOW mom'. The teenagers haven't attempted to look for work. At least the hubby hasn't been underfoot lately. I am going to need a vacation from my 'unemployment'. Sheesh.

ACK! Snow

I should have known. The heat was too good to be true. Snow. Every where. I wasn't prepared. My poor little sprouts. I saved a bunch of my seeds because I suspected this would happen. Sheesh.

Duh kids

I have 4 children. It's a yours, mine and ours family. My hubby had 2 when I met him 11yrs ago. A daughter KA, and a son TA. ( I use initials since I haven't got the kids permission to use their names and pics). The kids lived with him so I got to know them very well. I had a son JA and we had a son together JJ. We have the boys with us and the daught lives with her boyfriend. She is due to have a child in July so I guess that makes me a soon to be grandma. I really don't feel old enough to be a grandma but *sigh* I guess I am. She is days away from being 18. I can only cross my fingers and hope all goes well. JA will be 17 soon (end of June). He has a girlfriend and that seems to be the only thing he has any energy for. He'll be in grade 12 this fall. I hope he graduates. TA just turned 15. He's finishing grade 9 now and doesn't seem to have any idea what to do with himself. None of the eligible children have been able to get a learners yet. On one side that's okay because driving children stresses me but on the other side it would be good if they could get themselves around. I really hope the 2 boys can find work this summer, they weren't able to last year even with my help. The 'baby', JJ, will be 10 right away. He was home schooled for 3 yrs but now attends public school. He has adapted well and it really helped that he got a fabulous teacher. The 3 oldest are all taller than me now and JJ is over my shoulder. His feet are as big as mine. He keeps wearing my sandals. I have 3 brothers and now have three sons. Lots of boys. I do have 2 nieces. JD is 13 and lives 5 mins away so I see her lots. The other lives about an hour away and I see her maybe once a year. I could go on and on but I'm sure you can imagine how interesting my days are with these kids in my life.

Hubby just blew in. The work phone has been going crazy again. YEAH! Three new jobs today, plus 3 on the go. I better get back to the database. It's coming along nicely.

Treadmill

So I have yet another project. Perhaps this one should be 'waistline' instead of treadmill.

You see, I love to run. I ran in school. I ran in the military. I run to relieve stress. I never ran to 'stay in shape'. But as anyone knows things change as you age. As my hubby likes to say "You're pushing f-f-f-forty." (Thanks hun) But I do not like to run in the city. Cars stink. To much exhaust, fumes, icky stuff. So I longed for a treadmill. A couple years ago my wish came true and hubby got me one for christmas. I used it regularily for awhile but was finding I was soooo tired all the time I stopped. Then summer came so I went outside with kids instead, got a new job and kind of forgot about it. In the fall I decided to get back on it. Was doing well until I broke my toe. Waitd for the foot to heel (8 weeks)and started up again. Then I had a head injury at work. Waited for that to heal (10 weeks for the headaches to stop) and then got back at it. Then had a major allergy attack while doing inventory at the job and waited for that to clear up (5 weeks). Then another summer and another new job. Turns out I was allergic to the job so I had sinus/breathing issues for 6 months. No treadmill. So the foots better, the head is better, the sinuses have cleared since leaving the last job and the waistline is starting to grow. So I got back at the treadmill a month ago. I've been doing pretty good but not as much as I should. I'd like to do 5 days a week. 3 would be good for now but I average 2. Bleah. Seems like I can ALWAYS find something else to do. Running on a treadmill is really boring. You can't really do anything else but watch TV. I tried reading a book once but hahaha. I am getting faster on it and doing each session longer so hopefully it will help with my potato chip addiction. mmmmmm. I love potato chips.

I have been the same height since 12. I have been the same pant/dress size since 15 yrs old. But things have redistributed. I still wear stuff I bought in 1992. I'd like to keep it that way. So ...
treadmill. It's a love/hate relationship.

Basement

Woohoo. The basement has been sorted and cataloged. Now to create sku numbers for everything and enter into the database. Whee.
This is where the BIG box used to sit.
Okay, it may appear a bit unorganized, but I now know where everything is and exactly what we have. Yeah. Now to get the ol' man to do the van. HAHAHA!

Update

Yeah! The gardens are sprouting!

I have turnip sprouts!

The chives are doing very well!

The front gardens have sprouts but too little to bother photographing at this time. Let's hope it warms up soon.

The basement is coming along nicely. I'd be done the big box if I hadn't dumped about 1000 finishing nails. Oh well.
I also found time to cut and colour my hair this AM. I like it.

Weather

Okay, I'm taking a break from the basement. That's the beauty of working for yourself, you set the schedule. Problem is I never seem to get a day off. Anyone that happened to be awake around 1:15am here in central Alberta, heard the thunderstorm roll through. Now, I'm a big fan of weather. Extreme weather. Must have something to do with my parents being storm chasers when I was very little. I like taking pics of weather. My family thinks mom's a little odd when I'm hanging out the bedroom window to get pics like this.

Lightening is my favorite but difficult to photograph. Until I discovered my little camera takes video and my little laptop will take a still from the video. Much easier these days. Unfortunatly, I didn't see any good strikes last night. This pic is from last year, the only good storm we had.
This one I took a few years back while hanging out the kitchen window. Storms have rain and my digital camera is not water proof, thus the hanging out the window.

I also like snow (took this one on my cell driving to work one morning)
and frost
and sunsets

and fog

and wind

I even got a tornado once.

While looking through my albums for these few pics I was amazed at how many weather related photos I have accumulated in 5 years. That's how long I've had my camera. I guess that's why I'll stay here in Alberta, lots of weather. Haha.

Projects

So I've discovered my life is full of projects. Many unfinished ones. I figure if I document the progress things will get done. Pressure out weighs procrastination.

The first project I've undertaken recently is the 'gardens'. I use quotes because they are really just small squares of dirt, but I'm determined to make something of them this year. We've been here 4 summers now and every year I say I'm going to plant something and every year I got to busy and nothing grew but weeds.

So this is the front beds. Yeah it's just dirt now but I've thrown in some seeds and either they grow or they don't. Cross my fingers, in a month or so it will be pretty.

This little flower is a leftover from residents gone by. The leaves grew every year but never a flower. I weeded it on Sat., watered it every day and poof. Pretty. So I have 1 flower. Woo Hoo!

These are chives I've planted in a pot in the kitchen. They sprouted this morning. Look close, they're there.

This is the back bed. Every thing growing now has been there since before we came. I've planted various seeds. Just have to wait and see what grows.

This is a second project. This one is big. We got some software to help simplify things with the company, now that it's getting busier. I need to inventory all this plumbing stuff. The pic on the ltop is what has to be done, the pic on the bottom is what's done. I did spend a year working shipping and receiving in a plumbing warehouse but I've forgotten what so much of this stuff is. I have to write everything down, then create a data base. The good news is once this is done, invoicing and quotes will be so much easier to complete. Everything else is put on hold till this is done. Sigh, guess I'll get back to the basement.

And thus it begins

Taa Daa. I haz a blog.
Now what?
Do I spill my inner most secrets? Drone on about the mundainess that is my day? Gush about my fabulous kids? Discuss the virtues of unemployment or underemployment? Tell stories? Create riddles? Pretend you're sitting across from me? I only joined this thing to follow my families blogs. Perhaps I'll say nothing at all. Perhaps I'll say everything.
You'll just have to tune in to find out.
